What Are Progressive Slot Machines?

The term progressive slots means this: It is a slot that stockpiles a flippin' huge jackpot and requires the maximum number of coins to win a jackpot. From my words to god's eyes, you should be blessed enough to hit the motherload of all progessive slots. The amount of the jackpot is determined by the total amount of coins and increases continually with each sequence of plays. These are also called dynamic jackpots in the biz because they always increase.

What is the difference between a static jackpot
and a progressive jackpot ?

The essential difference between a static jackpot and a slot progressive jackpot is that a static jackpot will remain at a certain level until a lucky player gets a hit, and then it resets and starts over again at that level. An illustration might help. Let's say that jackpot on slot machine X is 10000 coins for 3 cherries. It follows that it will never be more than 10000 coins. In the case of a progressive slot, the jackpot is set at some starting point. For argument's sake, we'll use 2000, but it constantly increases with each coin played, usually a maximum amount determined by a slot software program. Then it stays there or remains static until some lucky player gets a hit. Then it resets and begins all over again.

Is a hit on a progressive slots worth it?

Let's put it this way, landing a hit on a progressive slots can make you very rich if the jackpot is big. Read the table posted on the machine. All of the loot paid out on a progressive slots in no way changes the casino's bottom line, since all jackpots are only a hold percentage of what has been played. To sum it up, it's the total of all coins played by the slots players.

What are the odds of winning at progressive slots?

The odds of getting a hit on a progressive slots jackpot are proportional to the size of the jackpot. On small progressive slots there are more hits. On larger progressive slots, there are fewer hits. Still someone has to win. Smaller progressive slots may get hits 4 to 5 times a day and even more than that. This is the allure and excitement of slots players playing progressive slots. The goal of the casino management is to get people to play the progressive slots longer and longer. They do this by not having clocks around. This tends to get in the way of playing progressive slots.

So, what are you saying about progressive slots?

For the progressive slots, the smaller jackpots win more often. It's more important to have fun at progressive slots than think about winning all the time. In general however I don't like progressive slots if you're trying to play for profit. You have a much better chance of making a profit by playing Standard slot machines as outlined in my book Slot Machine Secrets The Book.
